And do the device driver update via Device manager. I had already tried the Windows XP Mode which doesn't help as it grabs the scanner by attaching the USB from Windows 7 (you have to click a button to Attach The provided software can't be installed. And it seems that I'm not alone, it seems to me HP cannot handle Win 7 64 bit.
Those require 64 bit OSs. With my ScanJet 4600, I downloaded HP Photo and Imaging Software v2.4 (col6904mu1.exe) for WinXP and it works. You just use XP mode to do your scanning then go back to Win 7 where your modern processing software is. This is not a fault of the table but of HP (see download link). I had no problems printing to a very old 1220C (Mfg Date May 2001), but my ScanJet 6200C (That is at least 5 years newer) seems to be a lost cause If all goes well you should see the "initializing scanner dialog box", and hear the scanner dancing.You should be good to go...
